NAPCC (National Action Plan on Climate Change) & SAPCC(Meghalaya State Action Plan on Climate Change)

The Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change decided on its first meeting that “A National Document compiling action taken by India for addressing the challenge of Climate Change, and the action it proposes to take” be prepared. The National Action Plan on Climate Change responds to the decision of the PM’s Council, as well as updates India’s national programmes relevant to addressing climate change. It identifies measures that promote our development objectives, while also yielding co-benefits for addressing climate change effectively. The National Action Plan focuses on promoting understanding of climate change, adaptation and mitigation, energy efficiency and natural resource conservation.

On June 30, 2008, then Prime Minister released India’s first National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) identifying eight core “national missions” representing multi-pronged, long-term and integrated strategies for achieving key goals in the context of climate change.
